Nearly 40 years after moving to US I still lug duffel bags of European stuff I can’t find here. We used to smuggle in Italian prosciutto which was not always successful. It was the daily bread that was the hardest to live without at the beginning. We have caught up on all sorts of great freshly baked breads and baked goods, just in time for doctor’s prohibitions on eating them.

Don’t even bring the healthcare up. It has been taken over and f-ed up by big corporations. They are now doing the same with housing. The era of unbridled cut throat capitalism has arrived. dictatorship is on the rise and empathy is a a dirty word. Time to move again in old age.
